The 50001 is a fully-featured fire suppression system with unique qualities that allow for seamless operation and rapid response. Safety was the foremost priority in developing this helitank.

Low system weight

The helitank has a weight low enough (approx. 450 lb) so as to not unnecessarily sacrifice water or fuel capacities.

There are no forward speed restrictions when the tank is fully loaded.

High capacity

A 350 gallon capacity divided into two leak-proof, independent tanks guarantees the best price per pound of water delivered to a fire.  State of the art air-filled seals eliminate all leakage, allowing for no loss of water on long ferry flights.

Unrestricted water drop

The helitank delivers a water-drop that has a “near-to-instantaneous” unrestricted release from the tank. This release delivers a dense water mass that reduces spray and effectively penetrates the forest canopy – directly attacking the fire.

Restricted water drop

The helitank doors are sealed with inflatable seals. These seals can be deflated while the doors remain locked. This results in an approximately 40 second restricted water drop.  This unique feature allows for a dispersed blanket of water over a large area.

Independent Compartments

The tank capacity is approximately 350 gallons (US) divided into two equal and independent compartments, left and right.  These compartments can be operated together or separately, giving delivery options for the operator.   The specialized geometry of this two compartment system enhances its ability to deliver a dense mass of water.

Controlled offload capability

Controlled off-load through a separate pumping system offers the fastest off-load time available and maximizes the amount of water delivered to ground crews (175 gallons in about 50 seconds).

On load system retraction system

The helitank contains a remotely retractable/deployable on load system. This, too, supports seamless operation by allowing the aircraft to increase air speed when the on load system is retracted. The estimated time for deployment/retraction is under 5 to 10 seconds.

Foam injection

The helitank has a 2.5 gallon (US) foam injection system. This is set for a pre-selected concentration “shot”. Increasing the concentration will be done by adding more shots.

External cargo

This helitank has a cargo hook rated at 3000 lb. The cargo hook is attached to the bottom of the tank – aiding the attachment of external cargo.
